ABOUT PROJECT SENECA

VISION: To Establish a Successful, Cost Effective, Worldwide Premier Golf Course in the Pristine and Truly Unique Sandhills of Nebraska. – Project Seneca

Unparalleled Land

The grass stabilized sand dunes along Nebraska’s Dismal River create a Scottish links land that is unattainable anywhere else in the Americas. This fact remained undiscovered, or at least unproven, until The Sandhills Club was designed and built by Coore/Crenshaw Design and Dick Youngscap (owner of Firethorn). People travel from around the globe to get a chance to play this exclusive, natural, purists’ style course, and are on a waiting list to become a member.

Conservative and Cost-Efficient

Water is the life blood of a golf course, and the Sandhills have direct access to inexpensive, high-quality, sustainable water for irrigation. The Ogallala Aquifer is the largest in the United States, and the portion that lies directly below the Sandhills holds more water than any other area, by far. Furthermore, the need for irrigation is altogether minimalized due to the natural rough and hazards.

Welcomed by the Local Community

Building a golf course in the Sandhills is well received by most of the local community because it preserves the land and provides jobs. Our local relationships will help tremendously with maintaining a positive image, and with finding good employees.
